…..Movement highlights youth development, sporting excellence and tourism potential ahead of October 31 race
The Ekiti State Chapter of the City Boy Movement (CBM) has urged youths across the state to register for the forthcoming Ikogosi Marathon, a 17.5km road race scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026, to promote sporting talent, healthy living and tourism in the state.
In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Communications, Alofe Ayodele Moses, the movement called on young people across Ekiti’s 16 local government areas to participate in the race, describing it as an opportunity to test their endurance, showcase their athletic abilities and embrace healthy competition.
CBM noted that sporting events provide young people with opportunities to develop discipline, determination and other qualities that contribute to personal growth, while encouraging greater participation in physical activities.
The movement also highlighted the race’s potential to promote Ekiti as a tourism destination, particularly through increased awareness of the Ikogosi Warm Springs, one of the state’s prominent tourist attractions. It noted that events of this nature could attract visitors and create business opportunities within host communities.
The race, organised by the Ikogosi Marathon Initiative in collaboration with the Ekiti State Government, will run from Ilawe-Ekiti to the Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort.
The organisers have announced prize money of ₦2.5 million each for the male and female elite category winners, while winners in the respective Ekiti indigenous male and female categories will each receive ₦2 million, among other prizes.
