The Ekiti State Chapter of the City Boy Movement (CBM), under the leadership of the State Director, Asiwaju Oluwafemi Kasali, has congratulated the people of Ekiti State on the 30th anniversary of the creation of the state, describing the milestone as a celebration of the courage, sacrifice and vision of the patriots who fought for the Ekiti dream.
In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Communications, Alofe Ayodele Moses, the movement paid tribute to the founding fathers and all Ekiti sons and daughters who contributed to the struggle that culminated in the creation of Ekiti State on October 1, 1996.
CBM particularly acknowledged Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as one of the Ekiti patriots of that generation who participated in the struggle for the creation of the state, noting that his contribution forms part of the history Ekiti celebrates today.
The movement said the 30th anniversary was also an opportunity for the present generation to reflect on its responsibility to build upon the foundation laid by the state’s founders.
CBM also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the support and partnership his administration has extended to Ekiti, particularly through critical infrastructure interventions, including the Itawure-Aramoko-Ado-Ekiti road and the approval of the reconstruction of the Ado-Ijan-Ilumoba-Ikole road.
The movement said the interventions, alongside the development efforts of the Oyebanji administration, demonstrate the value of a strong Federal-State partnership in driving economic growth and improving connectivity across Ekiti.
“Thirty years ago, our founding fathers fought for a state where our people could determine their own future. Today, our responsibility is to build on that sacrifice and create an Ekiti with greater opportunities for our people.
“We appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the support his administration continues to give Ekiti and for the partnership with Governor Biodun Oyebanji in advancing critical infrastructure and development across the state.”
CBM urged the younger generation to understand the history behind the creation of Ekiti State and contribute meaningfully to building the Ekiti envisioned by its founders.
The movement congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the government and people of Ekiti State, and all sons and daughters of the state on the historic 30th anniversary.
“The best way to honour those who fought for Ekiti is to continue to build an Ekiti that justifies their sacrifice.”
