The City Boy Movement (CBM), Ekiti State Chapter, has congratulated former Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Akin Oyebode, popularly known as the King of Boys, on his birthday, commending his contributions to sports development and his commitment to creating opportunities for young people across the state.

In a congratulatory statement issued to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the State Director of Media and Communications of the movement, Alofe Ayodele M., described Oyebode as a notable supporter of youth development whose engagement with sports has provided opportunities for young talents to showcase their abilities and pursue their ambitions.

The movement cited the Oyebode Football Cup, a football tournament in Ekiti State, as a practical example of his contribution to grassroots sports development, providing a platform for young footballers to demonstrate their talents, gain competitive experience and attract recognition.

It also commended his broader support for sportsmen and women in Ekiti State, noting that sustained investment in grassroots sports can help nurture emerging talents, promote discipline and teamwork, and create pathways for young people to excel beyond their immediate communities.

According to the statement, initiatives that provide young people with opportunities to discover and develop their talents deserve recognition, particularly at a time when sports continue to offer avenues for youth engagement, personal development and economic opportunity.

The movement expressed delight in identifying with Oyebode, stressing that his involvement in sports development aligns with the need for individuals and organisations to support young people through mentorship, talent discovery and opportunities for meaningful participation in society.

It further reaffirmed its commitment to promoting youth inclusion, grassroots engagement and leadership development across Ekiti State, emphasising that empowering young people requires collective responsibility and sustained collaboration among public officials, private individuals, community leaders and other stakeholders.

While wishing Oyebode a fulfilling birthday celebration and greater accomplishments in the years ahead, the City Boy Movement encouraged stakeholders to sustain their support for initiatives that promote sports, nurture young talents and expand opportunities for the younger generation.

The movement maintained that recognising and supporting individuals who contribute to youth and sports development is an important step towards building a more vibrant, productive and prosperous Ekiti State.
