The Ekiti State chapter of the City Boy Movement (CBM) has intensified its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, calling on Muslim associations across the state to rally support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The appeal was made by the State Director of the movement, Asiwaju Kasali Oluwafemi, during an engagement with representatives of Muslim associations led by the Head of Religious Body (Muslim Affairs), Dr. Sikiru Olowoyo, at the Youth House in Ado-Ekiti.

Speaking at the meeting, Oluwafemi described religious organisations as strategic partners in grassroots mobilisation, noting that their influence at the community level would be instrumental in consolidating support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid.

He urged members of the associations to intensify mobilisation efforts within their respective communities by encouraging eligible citizens to participate actively in the electoral process and support the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.

According to him, the City Boy Movement is committed to building a strong grassroots structure capable of sustaining support for the President through continuous engagement, civic education and community participation.

Oluwafemi also called for increased membership of the movement, urging youths, students, professionals and other eligible Nigerians to join its expanding structure across the state.

“The success of this movement depends on our collective commitment. Every member has a responsibility to mobilise support, communicate responsibly and project the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration with facts and verified information,” he said.

He further charged members to remain united and focused on strengthening the movement’s presence in all wards and polling units across Ekiti State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Earlier, the Head of Religious Body (Muslim Affairs), Dr. Sikiru Olowoyo, urged Muslims across the state to actively support the mobilisation campaign, saying members should understand the vision and objectives of the City Boy Movement to effectively communicate its message and encourage wider participation within their communities.

Also speaking, the State Coordinator of the movement, Dr. Habibat Yusuf, appreciated participants for attending the engagement and reiterated the organisation’s slogan, “Inform, Engage and Empower.” She urged members to remain committed to promoting the policies and achievements of President Tinubu’s administration while ensuring that only factual and verified information is disseminated to the public. Yusuf also stressed the importance of participating actively in the electoral process, describing voter participation as a critical component of the movement’s grassroots strategy ahead of the next general elections.

The Deputy State Director of the movement, Hon. Tanimola Kolade, emphasised the need for sustained grassroots engagement, urging members to intensify efforts at informing, engaging and mobilising young people to become active participants in the City Boy Movement and supporters of President Tinubu’s re-election bid. In the same vein, the Director of Media and Communications, Alofe Ayodele Moses, charged members to effectively communicate the policies and achievements of the Tinubu administration to the public, citing massive investments in youths and efforts to improve access to quality and stable education. He urged members to rely on verified facts and accurate information in promoting the President’s programmes and countering misinformation.

During the interactive session, participants identified challenges confronting grassroots mobilisation and voter participation. Alhaji Tajudeen Olorunkemi called for stronger collaboration among members at the ward level to improve coordination and strengthen the mobilisation network, while Mrs. Mulikat Abdullah urged sustained public enlightenment to address voter apathy and encourage greater participation in the democratic process.

The participants also underscored the need for the responsible use of social media in promoting civic awareness, countering misinformation and projecting the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by the City Boy Movement and the participating Muslim associations to deepen grassroots mobilisation, expand the movement’s membership base and consolidate support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
